What is the difference between the surfaces?
Lacquered steel is the everyday magnetic whiteboard: wipes clean, takes magnets, good for years. Glass is the premium surface and does not ghost, which is why it carries the longest guarantee in this range. Cork is for pinning rather than writing, and fabric-faced boards are for pinning where you also want a bit of noise absorption. There are 9 here, from £31.
Are they all magnetic?
The steel and glass boards are. Cork and fabric boards are not, because there is nothing ferrous behind the surface. If you plan to hold paper on it with magnets rather than pins, check the specification tab before ordering.
Why do old whiteboards go grey?
Ink works into a worn surface and stops lifting, which is called ghosting. It is caused by cheap surfaces, permanent marker and leaving writing up for weeks. A glass or good lacquered steel board and a proper cleaner will see off most of it.
Do they come with pens?
Not as standard. There is a starter set in this category with markers, magnets, wipes and sponges in one box, which is the cheapest way to make a new board usable on day one.
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery is free on everything, and most of it lands inside a week. Express delivery is offered on much of the range, priced per item on the product page, and gets an order to you within two working days if you place it before 5pm. Nothing here is made to order, so the lead times are the standard ones.
Does it come assembled?
Most of it arrives flat-packed, with the instructions and fittings in the box. If you would rather not build it, pre-assembled delivery and installation are offered on much of the range and priced per item on the product page.
What warranty does it come with?
Guarantees across this category run from 2 to 25 years, depending on the product and the part, and the figure is on every product page. Structure, mechanism, electrics, and fabric and foam are often covered for different lengths of time. If something fails inside the warranty, report it from your order page and we deal with the manufacturer for you.
