Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 August 2026

This privacy policy explains how Deskwell Office Furniture (deskwell.co.uk) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit or use our website.

Deskwell Office Furniture is a trading name of Deskwell Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. Deskwell Limited is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

We take your privacy seriously. Please read this policy carefully. If you have any questions, contact us at hi@deskwell.co.uk.

What information we collect

We may collect the following types of personal information:

  • Your email address

  • Your IP address (used for security and abuse prevention)

  • Device and browser information (type, operating system, browser version)

  • Your name

  • Payment information (processed securely via our payment provider - we do not store card details ourselves)

  • Content you submit, such as messages, comments, or form responses

  • The items you put in your basket

  • Anything you enter at the checkout even if you do not complete the order, such as your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and any discount code

  • Analytics and usage data (pages visited, time on site, device type)

  • Approximate location derived from your IP address

We collect this information only when you provide it directly, when you use our site, or where we are permitted to do so by law.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our website and services

  • Create and manage your account

  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and abuse

  • Send you marketing communications where you have given your consent (you can opt out at any time)

  • See which orders were nearly completed and where people are giving up, so we can fix what is putting them off

  • Comply with our legal obligations

  • Understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it

Third-party services

We share data with trusted third parties only where necessary to operate our services. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We use services that remember your preferences and settings across visits, such as your chosen language or display options.

We use analytics services to understand how visitors use our site - for example, which pages are most popular and how users navigate. These services may set cookies and collect data about your browser and activity.

We use marketing and advertising services that may collect data about your visit in order to show you relevant adverts elsewhere on the internet.

These third-party services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies - small text files placed on your device. We use cookies to:

  • Keep you signed in between visits

  • Remember your preferences

  • Understand how you use the site (analytics)

  • Remember an unfinished basket, if you have agreed to Marketing cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using our cookie preferences panel. Most browsers also allow you to control cookies through their settings. Refusing certain cookies may affect how the site functions.

Unfinished baskets

If you have agreed to Marketing cookies, we keep a record of a basket that was never turned into an order, together with anything you had already typed into the checkout - your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and any discount code. We use it to see where orders are being lost so we can fix what is putting people off.

The cookie that makes this possible holds nothing but a random reference number. It is not linked to anything about you, it cannot be read by anything other than our own site, and it expires after 30 days.

These records stay on our own systems and are not shared with anyone. They are deleted automatically 90 days after the basket was last touched, whether or not an order was ever placed. If you withdraw your agreement to Marketing cookies, everything held about your unfinished baskets is deleted straight away.

We do not email you about an unfinished basket.

Live chat

Our website offers a live chat service so you can talk to us directly. The chat only starts - and only collects anything - when you choose to open it. When you use live chat, we collect:

  • Your name and email address, if you provide them

  • The messages and any files you send us

  • The page you were on when you opened the chat, and the pages you visited earlier in the same visit, so we can help you faster

Chat conversations run on our own systems - they are not sent to a third-party chat provider. Conversations are stored securely in the UK and EEA, and are deleted automatically 12 months after they are closed. If you would like your chat history removed sooner, contact us at hi@deskwell.co.uk.

Your rights (GDPR and UK GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, where applicable, the UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access - you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  • Right to rectification - you may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Right to erasure - you may request that we delete your data in certain circumstances.

  • Right to restrict processing - you may ask us to pause how we use your data.

  • Right to data portability - you may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

  • Right to object - you may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.

  • Right to withdraw consent - where processing relies on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hi@deskwell.co.uk. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority - in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, your national data protection authority.
