Office Chairs With Adjustable Lumbar Support

Adjustable lumbar support office chairs, where the support moves to suit the person in the chair instead of staying where the factory left it. Priced from £73 to £386.

The lumbar support on these 35 chairs moves to suit the person sitting on it. A moulded back cannot do that at any price. Chiro and Domino are in the 24 hour chairs, and Ergo Twist and Onyx across the ergonomic range. Iris and Portland sit among the mesh backs. The Sanderson II is over on the executive chairs.

Clear the filter and the fixed back chairs join them. That brings the entry price down, and the number of people one chair can suit with it. The rest carries on working: back height, arms, upholstery, colour and weight rating. Prices run from £73 to £386. The dearer end tends to add a headrest and adjustable arms rather than a different mechanism.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between adjustable and built-in lumbar support?

Built-in support is shaped into the backrest, so it sits where the maker decided the average back curves. Adjustable support moves, so it can be set where your own back actually curves. For a chair one person uses all day, adjustable is worth the difference; for shared seating, built-in is often enough.

Does lumbar support actually help?

It supports the inward curve of the lower back, which is the part that collapses when people slump. That removes one common cause of discomfort. It is not a treatment for an existing back condition, and we will not pretend otherwise.

How do I set it?

Sit back properly in the chair and move the support until it meets the small of your back, not the middle of it. If the backrest height also adjusts, set that first. Ten minutes when the chair arrives is the difference between a good chair and an expensive one.

Is this page kept up to date?

It is a live cut of the catalogue rather than a hand-written list, so it always shows what we can actually supply today. There are 34 chairs on it at the moment, from £73. Anything out of stock is hidden, so if you can see it and add it to a basket, we can get it.

How long does delivery take?

Most of this selection is made to order, so allow 10 to 15 working days. Delivery itself is still free. A few lines are stocked and move faster, and every product page shows the date it will arrive by before you pay.

What warranty does it come with?

Each product carries the manufacturer's warranty and the period is stated on that product's page, often broken down by part: the structure for one length of time, the mechanism and the fabric for another. If something fails inside the warranty, report it from your order page and we deal with the manufacturer for you.

Can I see it in 3D?

25 of the 34 products in this selection have a 3D model on the page rather than only photographs. The viewer spins the actual model, and changing a colour or a size on the page changes the model with it, which is worth doing before committing a whole room to a finish.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

On stocked items, yes: tell us within 14 days of receiving them and raise it from your order page, with the goods unused and back in their packaging. Most of this range is made to order, though, and made-to-order goods cannot be cancelled once acknowledged or returned because you have changed your mind. Each product page says which it is before you buy.

Can you quote for a whole office?

Yes. For twenty items or more, or anything with a complication like a mezzanine or a lift that argues back, we plan the job and give you one quote covering the goods, delivery and installation. Ring 0208 138 0512 or email [email protected] with a rough list or a floor plan.
