Frequently asked questions

What actually reduces noise in an open-plan office?

Absorption, in stages. Desk screens take the edge off between people, floor dividers break up a room, wall tiles and ceiling baffles stop hard surfaces bouncing sound around, and booths give somewhere to take a call. 31 listings from £11.

Will any of it soundproof a room?

No, and anyone promising that is selling something else. These absorb sound rather than blocking it, so speech carries less far and the room stops ringing. Blocking sound needs mass, a door and a sealed ceiling, which is a building job.

Where should I start?

Desk screens first, because they work where the noise is made and they are the cheapest thing here. Then wall or ceiling absorption if the room still sounds hard. Booths last, because they solve a different problem: one person needing to not be overheard.

What are the panels made of?

Mostly PET felt, which is made from recycled plastic bottles, and fabric-faced board on the desk screens. It is why a good part of this collection also appears in our recycled and sustainable collection.

How is this collection put together?

By hand, against what each product's own specification actually says rather than by a rule that guesses from the name. There are 31 listings in it at the moment, from £11. It is a curated selection rather than an automatic one, so if you think something obvious is missing, tell us and we will look.

How long does delivery take?

Most of this collection is made to order, so allow 10 to 15 working days. Delivery itself is still free. A few lines are stocked and move faster, and every product page shows the date it will arrive by before you pay.

Do you offer installation?

Yes, on 23 of the 31 products here. The crew deliver it, build it, put it where you want it and take the packaging away. Installs usually happen within about 10 working days, and the team agree the day with you rather than simply turning up.

What warranty does it come with?

Guarantees across this collection run from 2 to 10 years, depending on the product and the part, and the figure is on every product page. Structure, mechanism, electrics, and fabric and foam are often covered for different lengths of time. If something fails inside the warranty, report it from your order page and we deal with the manufacturer for you.

Can I see it in 3D?

Seventeen of the 31 products in this collection have a 3D model on the page rather than only photographs. The viewer spins the actual model, and changing a colour or a size on the page changes the model with it, which is worth doing before committing a whole room to a finish.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

On stocked items, yes: tell us within 14 days of receiving them and raise it from your order page, with the goods unused and back in their packaging. Most of this range is made to order, though, and made-to-order goods cannot be cancelled once acknowledged or returned because you have changed your mind. Each product page says which it is before you buy.

Can you quote for a whole office?

Yes. For twenty items or more, or anything with a complication like a mezzanine or a lift that argues back, we plan the job and give you one quote covering the goods, delivery and installation. Ring 0208 138 0512 or email [email protected] with a rough list or a floor plan.
