Heavy Duty & 24 Hour Chairs
Heavy duty office chairs rated for round-the-clock use - built for control rooms, call centres and bigger builds.
Most office chairs are designed for one person, eight hours a day. These are not most office chairs. 24 hour office chairs and heavy-duty models are built and tested for continuous multi-shift use - control rooms, emergency services, security desks - where the chair changes occupant but never gets a rest.
That means reinforced mechanisms, higher weight ratings, denser foams that keep their shape, and fabrics chosen for years of constant contact. If your seating works shifts, ordinary chairs will quietly fail on you; these are specified so they don't.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a chair heavy duty?
A higher weight rating and a build to match: a stronger gas lift, a reinforced base, denser foam and a mechanism rated for continuous use. Ratings here run to 225kg, against the 150kg or so of an ordinary office chair.
What does 24 hour rated mean?
That the maker builds the chair for a seat that never empties: three shifts, different people, no overnight recovery for the foam. Control rooms, dispatch desks, security, emergency services. It is a durability rating rather than a comfort one, though the two usually travel together at this end of the range.
Who should be buying these?
Two different customers. Anyone running shifts, who needs the 24 hour rating. And anyone buying for a larger or taller person, where a standard chair is at the edge of its rating and will not last. Both are legitimate, and the page tells you which rating you are buying.
Are they bigger to sit in?
Generally yes, with a wider seat and a taller back, which is part of why they suit bigger people. Measure the space under the desk as well as the person, because a wide chair with arms can foul a narrow desk return.
How long does delivery take?
Most of this category is made to order, so allow 10 to 15 working days. Delivery itself is still free. A few lines are stocked and move faster, and every product page shows the date it will arrive by before you pay.
Do you offer installation?
Yes, on everything here. The crew deliver it, build it, put it where you want it and take the packaging away. It starts at £17.95 an item and the exact price is on each product page. Installs usually happen within about 10 working days, and the team agree the day with you rather than simply turning up.
Does it come assembled?
Most of it arrives flat-packed, with the instructions and fittings in the box. If you would rather not build it, pre-assembled delivery and installation are offered on much of the range and priced per item on the product page.
What warranty does it come with?
Each product carries the manufacturer's warranty and the period is stated on that product's page, often broken down by part: the structure for one length of time, the mechanism and the fabric for another. If something fails inside the warranty, report it from your order page and we deal with the manufacturer for you.
Can I see it in 3D?
Every one of the 6 products in this category has a 3D model on the page rather than only photographs. The viewer spins the actual model, and changing a colour or a size on the page changes the model with it, which is worth doing before committing a whole room to a finish.
Can I change my mind after ordering?
On stocked items, yes: tell us within 14 days of receiving them and raise it from your order page, with the goods unused and back in their packaging. Most of this range is made to order, though, and made-to-order goods cannot be cancelled once acknowledged or returned because you have changed your mind. Each product page says which it is before you buy.
Can you quote for a whole office?
Yes. For twenty items or more, or anything with a complication like a mezzanine or a lift that argues back, we plan the job and give you one quote covering the goods, delivery and installation. Ring 0208 138 0512 or email [email protected] with a rough list or a floor plan.
