Storage that works at desk height

Full-height bookcases block light and loom over open plan offices; this desk high office bookcase keeps everything within arm's reach of a seated person and finishes flush with the desktop. Butted against the end of a 600mm deep desk, its top becomes useful surface, somewhere for the printer, the plants or a visitor's coffee, while the open shelves below keep the files you actually use daily at knee height rather than across the room. In an 80cm wide, 60cm deep footprint, it earns its floor space twice over.

Impulse construction underneath

Like the rest of the value-leading Impulse contract storage range, the build is more serious than the price suggests. Panels are 25mm thick under a heat resistant melamine finish, wrapped in 2mm ABS protective edging, with 18mm side walls drawn tight by steel-to-steel fixings that never work loose the way wood screws in chipboard do. A solid back board keeps the carcass square, and adjustable feet let it sit level against the desk even when the floor disagrees. Designed by specialists, quality assured, and guaranteed for 10 years.

Thirteen finishes, one coherent office

The finish list mirrors Impulse desking exactly: beech, grey oak, maple, oak, walnut, white and black, plus two-tone versions pairing each wood with white. That means the bookcase can match the desk it stands beside, or pick out the office's accent colour, and a later refit can add more units that still belong together.

    Desk high bookcase that matches the cupboards we already had. Shelves are adjustable and take a proper load of files without bowing. Assembly took about forty minutes.
