Office Chairs With Folding Arms

Folding arm office chairs let the armrests swing up so the chair pushes right under the desk. That matters in a tight bank of workstations. Nine listings from £73.

Arms are marvellous until the chair will not go under the desk. At that point they are furniture in the walkway. Folding arms hinge up out of the way, which is why these nine suit narrow banks and shared benches. They are the Eclipse Plus and Eclipse XL task chairs, the draughtsman models, the Relay mesh backs and the Chiro heavy duty chairs. All nine are a slice off the wider chair range.

Swap the arm filter to fixed, adjustable or armless and the list changes shape completely. Arms are chosen chair by chair. Colour, upholstery and back height narrow it further. The nine here run from £73 to £187, which makes this a practical corner of the catalogue. Most of it is stocked.

Frequently asked questions

What are folding arms?

Arms that fold up out of the way, so the chair pulls right under a desk when it is not in use. Useful where space is tight and where a chair has to be tidied away.

Do arms matter?

More than people expect. Arms set too high push the shoulders up; set too low they are not used at all. For a full-time desk chair, adjustable arms are worth the difference. For visitor and meeting seating, fixed arms are fine and help people get up.

Will the arms fit under my desk?

Check the arm height on the product page against the clearance under your desktop, because an arm that fouls the desk edge stops the chair pulling in. If space is tight, folding arms or no arms solve it outright.

Is this page kept up to date?

It is a live cut of the catalogue rather than a hand-written list, so it always shows what we can actually supply today. There are 9 chairs on it at the moment, from £73. Anything out of stock is hidden, so if you can see it and add it to a basket, we can get it.

How long does delivery take?

Most of this selection is made to order, so allow 10 to 15 working days. Delivery itself is still free. A few lines are stocked and move faster, and every product page shows the date it will arrive by before you pay.

What warranty does it come with?

Each product carries the manufacturer's warranty and the period is stated on that product's page, often broken down by part: the structure for one length of time, the mechanism and the fabric for another. If something fails inside the warranty, report it from your order page and we deal with the manufacturer for you.

Can I see it in 3D?

Every one of the 9 products in this selection has a 3D model on the page rather than only photographs. The viewer spins the actual model, and changing a colour or a size on the page changes the model with it, which is worth doing before committing a whole room to a finish.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

On stocked items, yes: tell us within 14 days of receiving them and raise it from your order page, with the goods unused and back in their packaging. Most of this range is made to order, though, and made-to-order goods cannot be cancelled once acknowledged or returned because you have changed your mind. Each product page says which it is before you buy.

Can you quote for a whole office?

Yes. For twenty items or more, or anything with a complication like a mezzanine or a lift that argues back, we plan the job and give you one quote covering the goods, delivery and installation. Ring 0208 138 0512 or email [email protected] with a rough list or a floor plan.
